What Bart needs now is to move on to an understanding owner with time and patience to bring him on and give him the life he deserves. Ideally a Natural Horsemanship home would suit him best as this is what he is used to. He works well on the ground and is quite responsive to instruction and displays three lovely floating paces. Bart has been lightly ridden and this is a work in progress. He would really benefit from a one to one relationship as he is a loving horse who completely puts his trust in you. She was completely bomb proof in traffic ( regularly ridden out alone by a 9yr old ) untill she had a run in with a tractor a yr ago - this unfortunatly wasn,t dealt with properly by her owners at the time and so consequently needs some time and understanding to regain her confidence . She is still nervous, but is gaining in confidence all the time & is proving to have an affectionate nature. She does need LOTS of time & patience. She is now halter-broken & very good at loading into the trailer. UPDATED 10/7/10 to say progress has been made! She is now walking out happily wearing a full set of tack - still not rushing to sit on her but I'm sure we'll get there soon. Because she has been so nervous, it's very rewarding working with her. I am confident that she will make a lovely riding pony but estimate she needs daily work for 3 - 6 months to get there & I really don't have the time to devote to her. However, this is a very well-bred & nicely made little pony & I am working with her as much as I can. When I get to the point that she is ready to sell as 'backed & hacked', I will want to sell her for £800 - £1000. When I tried him out he was a very quiet, sweet pony who, I was told, was ready to be brought on & showing tonnes of potential. I had been told he had not had a great start to life and that he had been hit by previous owners and farriers and was therefore very nervous of new people and in particular - Men. Unfortunately this seems to be the only truth I was told – so I promise to be as honest as I possibly can about Blue. The main problem is, over a year on I still havn’t been able to ride him - he is fine until you move your leg over the middle of his bottom then he kind of shakes & trys to run forward. He has never been the pony I tried out. He is certainly a very very sweet boy and I believe getting on him would mean winning half the battle. He lunges beautifully (can be seen at lunge) and when he works he really gets into the zone and has a lovely pace. Sadly I have never had the time that Blue really needs and sadly had he been the same pony I tried out, I wouldn’t be in this situation. But he needs someone with a bit more knowledge and more time to commit to him, maybe to start him again??? He is fine being tacked up, he has a Wintec Cair saddle and is in a Fulmer bit (the same I tried him in). He has jumped, free schooled, XC (apparently) – Finding the right home for Blue is of course a huge importance – so please make sure you are ready for this challenge. Given the time & understanding he needs to be put “right” (so to speak) I guarantee big rewards from this beautiful boy. He just needs trust, confidence & lots of love. I am happy to answer any questions via email or phone, like I said, I will be very honest about him. He goes well in the school with 3 nice paces but has had issues out hacking with me! We’ve put more work into him this year with lots of walking out in hand and he and I have a much better bond and my confidence has increased with him and we're now doing short hacks but due to further recent changes in my personal life I just don’t have the time to continue the work we’ve done so he needs to go to someone who does as he really loves to be doing things rather than being mainly a field ornament :( He will need someone to take time to bond with him and put the groundwork in but he really is worth it - my friend has hacked him and has further success as she’s not nervous like I am (I don’t know why I am!) He has started jumping but is very green - he is built to jump and enjoys it but it is not something I enjoy Lives out, loads well, good to shoe, only been clipped once but was OK Very sad sale for his own good as he needs to be doing more. He has done far less than he should have due to ongoing issues in my personal.
