Dorset Horsewatch

There has been an increased number of unexplained injuries to horses in both the Dorset area and bordering county of Hampshire. In the past some of the injuries have been put down to rutting stags at this time of year, however some are more sinister. Please report any suspicious activity to the police. Dorset police are currently auditing all Watch members and will segregate Horse Watch from Farm Watch. Members will be able to receive both Watch messages if required but this will enable us to get specific messages across to Horse watch members and hopefully improve the service. Please note that unlike some other Forces this is not assigned to a dedicated officer but has to be done in addition to normal police duties
Pc Jane Brittain

If you have any information regarding the contents of this message, please call Dorset Police on 01202/01305 222222, or you may prefer to contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
Grazing muzzle cut of pony's head last night

Found pony's muzzle in field this am and upon inspection it has been cleanly cut off his head (with scissors or a knife)last night at the poll area. Not sure who or why one would want to do this and at a guess could be some kind of animal rights person/s or somebody who thinks a grazing muzzle is cruel.

However, they obviously and very clearly do not have any idea why the need for a grazing muzzle or for restricted grazing in the one important factor and that is to prevent laminitis in a laminitic prone pony where if he or any other pony succumb to the horrible and horrific outcome of the disease would have to be pts. I would be quite happy talking to this person personally if they made themselves known to me and get them to understand.

I had undergone great distress and pain when putting my pony into a grazing muzzle as one can see in previous posts. So it was not a decision I took half heartedly!!

I will be speaking to the neighbours (to keep an eye out and why the importance of a grazing muzzle) and I be reporting it to the police.
Suspicious Equine Related Incidents - NF area

I am supervising an investigation into several equine related injury incidents that have been reported to Hants Police. At this time we are assessing and processing information and cannot confirm that there is anything suspicious about these incidents.
Unfortunately as is human nature several rumours are now circulating which have become totally distorted. I would like to reassure horseowners in the New Forest area that attacks on horses are extremely rare however we must remain vigilant at all times. If anyone sees anything untoward then please take details of any vehicle including the registration number and remember descriptions of persons involved. If the incident is of an urgent nature and you feel crime is in progress then please do call us on 999 - if not urgent however please call us on 0845 045 4545.
Three Yamaha Quad Bikes Stolen

Three Yamaha Quad bikes, two white & one blue have been stolen from our neighbours in Ossemsley North Drive, Wootton, near Bashley sometime over the last two weeks.

They have seen a suspicious white single car transporter reg G196 OOO? or similar in the area, but it may not be connected.

If you hear of anyone offering or have recently acquired a Yamaha quad bike, please call Steve on 01590 683808 & I'll pass on the message.

I realise this is not an equine crime, but if they found the bikes, they probably had a good nose around our field/yard as well.

Thanks
